Berserk has been running longer than most of the people collecting it. Here's the story behind the Berserk figures on your shelf.

• Serialised since 1989. Kentaro Miura began Berserk in Hakusensha's Animal House, later Young Animal, and it has been running for over three decades — one of the longest-lived dark fantasy manga ever published.
• The story did not stop. Miura died in 2021. Berserk continues under the direction of his lifelong friend Kouji Mori, who knew the ending, drawn by Miura's own Studio Gaga team.
• Studio Gaga supervises the figures. The same studio that draws the manga signs off these sculpts — which is why the armour silhouettes and the Dragon Slayer's proportions read correctly rather than approximately.
• The armour is a curse, not an upgrade. The Berserker Armor lets Guts fight past what his body can survive by suppressing pain entirely — so he keeps swinging while the armour quietly destroys him.
• It shaped a genre of games. Berserk's influence runs straight through modern dark fantasy gaming, something FromSoftware's Hidetaka Miyazaki has cited directly.
