■ The Crumbs Explained

Cookie Policy

Plain English. No dark patterns. We use the bare minimum cookies needed to run the site, plus a small handful of optional ones — and only if you say yes.

Compliant with UK PECR & GDPR

No tracking until you accept

Reject all in one click — always

Change your choice any time

Cookies are small text files stored in your browser when you visit a website. They help sites remember things — like what’s in your cart or whether you are logged in — and (sometimes) how you use them. This page explains every cookie we use, why, and how to control them. 01

What We Use Cookies For

We group cookies into four categories. You can see exactly what each one does — and choose which ones to allow — in the Cookie Settings link in our footer.

Always On

Strictly Necessary

Cookies the site cannot function without. Cart contents, login session, secure checkout, CSRF protection. These cannot be disabled because the site simply will not work.

  • WooCommerce session & cart
  • WordPress login
  • Security tokens
  • Cookie consent itself
Optional

Functional

Improve your experience but aren’t essential. They remember your preferences so you don’t have to set them every visit.

  • Wishlist contents
  • Recently viewed products
  • Currency / language choice
  • Compare list
Optional

Analytics

Anonymous data about how visitors use the site so we can improve it. No personally identifiable info is sent. IP addresses are anonymised before storage.

  • Google Analytics 4 (anonymised)
  • Page-view counters
  • Performance metrics
Optional

Marketing

Help us measure how well our ads and emails are doing, and avoid showing you the same ad twice. Only set if you opt in.

  • Meta (Facebook / Instagram) pixel
  • Google Ads conversion
  • Email click tracking
02

How Long Cookies Last

Cookies are either session cookies (deleted when you close your browser) or persistent cookies (stored for a fixed period). Here is the typical lifespan of each category:

  • Strictly necessary: session only, or up to 24 hours for the cookie banner.
  • Functional: up to 30 days.
  • Analytics: up to 14 months (Google Analytics standard).
  • Marketing: up to 90 days.

You can clear all cookies any time from your browser’s settings. Doing so will log you out and reset your preferences.

03

Third-Party Cookies

Some cookies are set by trusted third parties we use to run specific features. Where possible we use server-side or first-party setups to minimise third-party tracking. The third parties whose cookies may appear on our site:

  • Stripe — fraud detection on payment pages.
  • PayPal — when you choose PayPal at checkout.
  • Google — Analytics and (if enabled) Google Ads.
  • Meta — Facebook and Instagram pixels (only if marketing consent given).
  • Cloudflare / SiteGround — site security and performance.

Each third party has its own privacy policy. We do not control how they process the data their cookies collect.

04

How to Manage Your Cookie Choices

You are in control. Three ways to manage your cookie choices:

  • Our cookie banner — accept all, reject all, or customise per category on first visit.
  • Cookie Settings link — in our footer on every page. Change your choice at any time.
  • Your browser — block, delete or limit cookies in your browser settings (Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Edge all support this).

Heads up: Blocking strictly necessary cookies will break parts of the site — for example checkout will fail and you cannot log in. The other three categories are entirely optional and the site works fine without them.

05

Do Not Track & Global Privacy Control

We respect Global Privacy Control (GPC) signals where supported. If your browser sends a GPC signal, we treat it as an opt-out from non-essential cookies and from sale or sharing of personal data — the same as choosing “Reject All” on our cookie banner.

06

Changes to This Policy

We update this policy when we add, remove or change cookies. The date at the bottom of the page tells you when it was last reviewed. Material changes are also reflected in the cookie banner so you can re-confirm your choices.

Our Promise To You

We use cookies to make the site work and (with your permission) to improve it — never to follow you around the internet without consent. One click rejects everything optional. One email gets it all deleted. That’s the deal.
