What’s on this wall

How to choose — first print or fifth

• Buy for the wall, not just the fandom. A print hangs in a room, not on a shelf — pick the piece that works at the spot you’ll actually hang it, in the light that spot gets. Holofoil earns its premium in a bright room; in a dark corner you’re paying for an effect nobody sees.
• Editions end — that’s the deal. These are strictly limited, hand-numbered runs: when an edition sells out, it’s aftermarket only. If a piece matters to you, the £0 reservation is the cheap insurance.
• Plan the framing before it arrives. Prints ship unframed, rolled in a rigid tube — that’s the safest way for them to travel. Budget for a proper frame, and if the room gets sun, UV-filtering glass is what keeps archival inks archival.
• Handle it like it’s worth money. Clean dry hands at the edges, flat surface, and let a framer do the mounting if you’re not confident — a fingerprint in the ink field is the one mistake you can’t return.

The reprint problem (posters pretending to be prints)

Marketplace listings love the word “giclée” — and much of what’s sold under it is a poster on thin stock with none of the edition, numbering or licence behind it. The real thing is a limited, hand-numbered run of licensed artwork with the publisher’s authentication on the sheet. The fix is the same as everywhere on this site: buy from the official channel.
