• A monthly-magazine giant. Unlike most shonen hits, Hajime Isayama's series ran in Kodansha's monthly Bessatsu Shōnen Magazine (2009–2021) — yet still sold over 140 million copies worldwide.
• Record-breaking print runs. Its volumes routinely launched with first printings above 2 million copies — a first-print record for publisher Kodansha.
• It almost never happened. Isayama was reportedly turned away by a Weekly Shōnen Jump editor who wanted him to change his rough art style — he refused, took it to Kodansha, and the rest is history.
• From Wit to MAPPA. The anime switched studios for its finale — Wit Studio animated the early seasons, MAPPA brought the story home.
• A finale that split the world. The 2021 ending sparked one of anime's biggest debates — Isayama himself has spoken candidly about it, a rare honesty from a creator.
